I think I know what the GB is doing
by HowTheBibleWasCreated inread:.
but if ever that evil slave says in his heart, ‘my master is delaying,’b 49 and he starts to beat his fellow slaves and to eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards.
hmm... let's see is anyone on the governing body a strict master and a drunkard?

Was Anyone Ever Disfellowshipped For Having a Beard?
by NotFormer ini read a comment somewhere that having a beard ( before such was allowed) was never a disfellowshippable offence.
but does that mean that no-one who grew a beard was ever eventually disfellowshipped?.
growing a beard when such was frowned upon would surely attract the attention of those with nothing better to do, and possibly lead to sniffing around to try and find things that the "disobedient" one was up to.

"Everyone Wants To Leave"
by NotFormer ina thread about steve hassan re-emerged and got me looking him up.
his wikipedia entry had a point under "criticism" that there is an underlying assumption in his approach that all members of high control groups ultimately want to leave*.. while it is generally believed that there are a lot of pimos still attending, doing field service and giving lip service to the wt, i doubt that everyone within the congregations want to get out.
it's not always internally and logically consistent, but it's been around long enough for enough workarounds to make it tolerable to emerge.. what do you think?

Do JWs Really Say This?
by NotFormer ini stumbled, via a google search, upon a part of jw space that is usually heavily defended against outsiders like my good self.
in a discussion, someone started their post with "i (started doing x)... when the slave began to suggest doing so"*.
do pimis really talk that way?

How many different "rules" do Jehovah's Witnesses have to obey? Can you count them?
by Balaamsass2 inall the big changes for jws since this last fall brought me back to this site, and got me and the wife talking.
just how many things were we not allowed to do growing up as jehovah's witnesses?
we were so used to all the rules, customs, and traditions, that we became used to them.. one site i found claims there are 141 unique rules!!

Watchtower hires off-duty law enforcement
by Diogenesister inan indignant law enforcement officer wrote kim & mikey to let them know watchtower had placed an advertisement on a facebook page dedicated to law enforcement staff only, looking to hire a fully uniformed and armed officer at $35 per hour.
the commission was for the memorial in a specified texan venue.. the officer was particularly miffed at the hypocrisy considering the terrible way law enforcement was portrayed in the 2018 convention video, where the jws had been herded into a field to be slaughtered by a large group of officers.
not to mention the fact they are only too willing to call police for their own protection, yet won’t do so when it comes to protecting children from potential or actual abuse.. https://youtu.be/-rpcsztnvyo.

The epicenter of Friday’s metro-area quake was around Watchtower's former Mountain Farm in Lebanon, NJ
by was a new boy in'the epicenter of friday’s metro-area quake was around the sleepy, tiny, agricultural town of lebanon, nj — where the temblor sent residents running home from work to check their houses and loved ones.. the us geological survey confirmed that the rare historic 4.8 earthquake struck around 10.23 a.m. near the small borough in hunterdon county — just a stone’s throw from donald trump’s national golf club in bedminster, where a 2.0 magnitude aftershock was felt shortly after.. the incident caused buildings to shake everywhere from the big apple to pennsylvania, connecticut and delaware.. “i was working from my home office in town, and everything started falling off the shelves,” lebanon mayor james pittinger told the post.
“i felt a shake like i’ve never felt in the 30 years i’ve lived here.. “it was one of the craziest things i’ve ever experienced.”.
